Fleming College 50th
Fleming College first opened its doors in September 1967, part of Ontario’s ground-breaking network of community colleges established in Canada’s centennial year. Starting with fewer than 200 students, Fleming has now grown to more than 6,000 full-time students. Its impact within the community and beyond is substantial with more than 73,000 alumni having graduated from the college over the last 50 years
The College celebrated its 50th anniversary in a variety of ways, including fun events for students, employees and alumni, and an art auction to raise funds for student bursaries. As well, musician Danny Bronson remastered and re-released Let the Deed Show, Fleming College’s official song that was commissioned for the College’s 25th anniversary, and Fleming launched a special publication in honour of the 50th and the College’s namesake, Sir Sandford Fleming: Life Learning Legacy.
